Okay. Let’s get to the important stuff. The stuff that happens after class. The fun stuff. The exciting stuff. Friends and faculty. Clubs and sports. Traditions and trips. Let’s talk about life at Houghton Academy.
The one guarantee we can make is that you will make friends. Good friends. In some cases, life-long friends. It starts with your dorm. Dorm life gives you the opportunity to meet a lot of people. Besides roommates and hall neighbors, you’ll meet campus staff and faculty who are there to act as guides, role models and friends. We’re not just a school, we’re a family.
Life at Houghton Academy is never dull. No matter where you look, there is always something to do. Team sports, including basketball, volleyball, soccer and golf will feed your need for competition. We even have a downhill ski club.
If you’re more comfortable on stage than on the field, our drama and music clubs regularly perform at campus Chapel services, and community events as well. Run for Student Senate or earn your way into the National Honor Society.
Fun traditions, like the Fall Picnic, Junior High and Senior Trips, the Stratford Shakespeare festival, and the crazy all-night Lock-In are just a few
student favorites.
There are also many opportunities to grow spiritually at Houghton Academy. We regularly organize local service projects – some of them are even included in several of our courses. There are regular student-led Bible studies, and a large, active youth group at the local church.
